Series Record is useful when you want to record each show in a series. With Series Record, you will record the show at the same time on the same channel every week. If the program changes time slightly, e.g. it runs for an hour instead of a half-hour, or it airs one hour early, it will still be recorded.
Auto-Record is useful when you want to record something whenever it comes on, that is, it is not restricted by day, time, or channel. For example, you didn’t see the movie “Bookshelves” in the theater and you want to make sure you record it whenever it comes to TV. Choose Search TV from TV Home, and search by title on “Bookshelves”. When you see the Search Results, scroll to the bottom of the screen and choose Auto-Record. Now whenever “Bookshelves” is broadcast, it will be recorded. You can Auto-Record using any search term, e.g. you can Auto-Record any show with your favorite actor, or any show about your favorite subject. Just search on that term, then choose Auto-Record.

Choose Search TV from TV Home, and search for the type of program you are interested in. When you see the Search Results, scroll to the bottom of the screen and choose Auto-Record.
-
When you are watching a program, or if you have tuned-in to a movie that was halfway over, press INFO on your remote control, then choose More Info. Choose Search for other showings from the Program Info screen to see a list of upcoming programs with the same title.

Pressing the GUIDE button on your remote takes you directly to the Guide. But if you have created a list of your Favorite channels, pressing GUIDE a second time displays only the channels in that list. If you have created more then one Favorites list, keep pressing GUIDE to move through all of them. To setup Favorites, select Settings from TV Home and choose the Channels option.
-
When browsing the Guide or viewing search results, use the arrow buttons on your remote to highlight and choose a program title. Choose Record from the Program Info screen that appears and then choose "Record all programs of this series." To limit the number of recordings or avoid recording repeats choose Series Options, otherwise choose Done.
-
Choose My Shows from TV Home and choose the program you would like to keep. Choose Keep Until and set the recording to be kept until a certain date or until you choose to erase it yourself.
-
It is recommended that you power off your UltimateTV receiver at least once a month to help maintain its performance. You can turn the power off by either pressing the power button on the receiver three times in rapid succession or simply removing the power cord momentarily from the wall socket.
-
If you record a television series, but usually are only interested in the last one or two episodes, you can tell your receiver to save only a few episodes. With each new airing of the series, the receiver will erase the earliest episode and keep the newer ones up to the limit you set. From the Guide, choose a program starting in the future that is regularly repeated. From the Program Info page, choose Record, then choose Record all programs of this series. From the Series record page, choose Series Options and change the number of recordings that are saved by the receiver.
-
To see how much of the recording space on your receiver’s hard drive is being used at any time, press MY SHOWS on your remote control, then scroll down and choose History. At the top of the grid, you will see what percentage of your recording space is being filled by programs you already have recorded. Below this, you will see a list of programs that were recently recorded or erased. Selecting a show title will give you more information about how a specific program was recorded or erased.
-
With two connections, you can view two live shows at once with Picture-In-Picture, record one show while watching another, or record two shows at the same time. While recording two shows at the same time, you can also watch a third previously recorded show.
To see if both of your connections are working, choose Settings from TV Home, choose System Test, and then choose Run Test. After running the test, if both Tuner 1 and Tuner 2 are OK, you're all set.
If one or both tuners fail the test, check the SATELLITE IN ONE and SATELLITE IN TWO connections on the back of your receiver, and the connections on your satellite dish if necessary.
-
Press the remote's CLEAR (RCA) or EXIT (Sony) button at any time (even while surfing the Web) to return to full-screen TV.

-
While watching TV, first press the PAUSE button on your remote, and then press the FORWARD button. The program plays in slow motion, confirmed by the slow-motion symbol on the screen.

Choose a show that has not yet started (they are listed in blue), and on the Program Info screen for that show choose Remind.
