If you had a DIRECTV Receiver before you purchased your DIRECTV Receiver with UltimateTV® service, you might want to keep your old receiver for sentimental reasons - or, more likely, to connect it to a TV in another room. Here's how to hook up both your old receiver and your new receiver with UltimateTV service.
You will need:
- Your standard DIRECTV Receiver
- DIRECTV Receiver with UltimateTV service
- Satellite dish with dual-LNB
- Multi-switch (sold separately)
- Additional RG-6 coaxial cable (sold separately) for connecting the DIRECTV Receiver with UltimateTV service to the satellite dish.
- Determine which satellite dish antenna you should have for your area. (In order to receive local channels in some areas you will need an Oval, Plus, or Para Todos dish.)
- In order to use all of the features of the UltimateTV service, you will need two separate connections from your UltimateTV-compatible receiver to the satellite dish antenna.
- If you already have a dish, determine what type it is (18" Single output LNB, 18" Dual output LNB or Multi Satellite, Oval, or Plus Dish). Remember, you will need two separate connections from your DIRECTV Receiver with UltimateTV service to the satellite dish antenna.
Note: If you want to keep using your current DIRECTV receiver in a different room, you'll need to purchase an accessory called a "multi switch" to provide feeds to both receivers. You'll also need to pay a fee to have your DIRECTV® programming package provided to more than one receiver ("mirrored").
